enhancing your self-esteem Our level of self-esteem affects virtually everything we think, say, feel and do in life. It is based on conscious and unconscious beliefs and thoughts we have about ourselves as a result of our experiences in life. It determines how we perceive and value ourselves and others. When our self-esteem is low the consequences can have a serious impact on our lives. Worry, anxiety, stress and inability to take action or enjoy life become a way of life. Feelings of not being good enough start creeping in and create a sense of limitation and isolation in the world. In my work as a psychotherapist and personal development coach I am increasingly aware of how many personal and professional issues are directly related to the low self-esteem and a lack of self-worth. The good news is that we can change the way we think and feel about ourselves. The process of change can be challenging as it requires stepping into the new and as yet unfamiliar way of being in the world. The rewards are great. Take a step towards creating a healthy self-esteem for yourself. Change the way you talk to yourself about yourself. Stop putting yourself down. Recognise your strengths and abilities. Turn your mistakes into learning opportunities. Gain insights into the value of your "inner critic". Move from the outward image into the inner substance
